Overview: FMC6-98 High-Gain FM Omnidirectional Fiberglass Collinear Antenna

The FMC6-98 is a heavy-duty, military-grade Fiberglass Collinear Antenna precision-engineered for the 88–108 MHz FM broadcast band. Designed to deliver superior performance where conventional antennas fail, this high-gain aperture is the premier choice for community broadcasting and tactical information dissemination. By stacking large-diameter brass radiating elements vertically and feeding them in-phase, the FMC6-98 provides a powerful 6 dBi gain and a stable 360-degree signal umbrella, ensuring maximum coverage for low-power (up to 500 Watts) transmitter sites.

Hardened Construction & Radome Shielding

Strategic engineering for zero-failure performance in extreme theaters. The FMC6-98 is built for the world's most punishing environments. All radiating elements are fully welded at their junctions to eliminate RF inter-modulation and internal noise. The internal brass array is completely sealed within a high-tech ruggedized fiberglass radome, which offers excellent RF transparency while protecting the system from ice formation, corrosive gases, and desert sandstorms. All exposed metal surfaces are fabricated from 6063T6 military-grade aluminum and finished with a durable powder coating for maximum longevity.

Operational Efficiency & Pattern Control

Optimized radiation for clear, wide-area saturation. The antenna features specialized stub-matching to ensure a smooth, ultra-low VSWR of 1.2:1 at the customer-specified frequency. With a vertical beamwidth of 38 degrees, the FMC6-98 concentrates energy toward the horizon to expand the effective coverage area.

  • Side-Mount Advantage: Supplied with three sets of crossover clamps, the antenna can be side-mounted on a tower. In this configuration, the tower acts as a reflector, creating a 270-degree offset pattern that increases signal strength toward the front and sides for targeted regional saturation.

Detailed Technical Features

  • High-Efficiency Collinear Design: Stacked brass elements fed in-phase deliver a consistent 6 dBi gain for superior broadcast reach.
  • Fully Welded Architecture: Prevents mechanical loosening and inter-modulation, maintaining signal purity at high power.
  • Radome-Shielded Array: 65 mm diameter fiberglass enclosure protects against the "detuning" effects of ice, rain, and salt fog.
  • Specialized Stub Matching: Ensures stable electrical characteristics and constant gain over the 1.5 MHz operational window.
  • Weather-Protected Termination: The N-Female connector is enclosed at the bottom of the support pipe, shielded from direct environmental ingress.
  • Military-Grade Hardware: All fasteners are made of Type 316 marine-grade stainless steel for total rust immunity.
  • Tactical Logistics: Supplied in two segments for ease of transport, with a shipping length of 2.6 meters.

Detailed Environmental Features (MIL-STD-810G Hardened)

The FMC6-98 is built and tested to meet the highest defense standards:

  • Thermal Survival: Certified for High/Low Temperature extremes (Method 500.5/502.5).
  • High-Velocity Wind Rating: Aerodynamically optimized to survive constant winds up to 200 Km/Hr.
  • Shock & Vibration Defense: Tested for high-impact shock (Procedure IV) and tactical vibration (Procedure I), ideal for tower-top deployment.
  • Ingress & Biological Defense: Method 507.5/506.5 compliant for humidity and rain; treated for Fungus Resistance (Method 508.6).
  • Corrosive Protection: Salt Fog (Method 509.5) certified, making it suitable for high-salinity coastal installations.

Key Advantages, Benefits & Applications

Key Advantages:

  • Zero-Maintenance Reliability: The fully welded, radome-protected design eliminates the need for periodic cleaning or field tuning.
  • Pattern Versatility: Use as a true omni-directional source or side-mount to create a directional "power boost" through tower reflection.
  • Aesthetic & Low-Profile: The slim, cylindrical olive green finish provides a low-observability profile and minimal wind loading.

Key Applications:

  • Community FM Broadcasting: High-efficiency primary antenna for regional radio stations.
  • Tactical Info-Warfare: Reliable dissemination of information in field theaters via FM signal.
  • Emergency Alert Systems: Durable infrastructure for civil defense and disaster response broadcasting.
  • Desert & Coastal Sites: Specifically hardened to survive sandstorms and high-salinity maritime environments.

Design Features: FMC6-98 FM band Fiberglass Omni-directional Collinear Antenna is rugged all weather model 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural aluminum, high class brass alloy and does not require any field tuning or adjustments. The antenna is supplied in two segments for easy of handling and shipping. The upper and lower portion of antenna is threaded together to prevent RF inter-modulation and antenna is completely protected within a high-tech ruggedized radome to ensure survivability in the worst environments condition. The fiber glass enclosure has excellent transparency for RF signals and enough strength to withstand specified wind loads. The antenna termination is enclosed at bottom of the antenna for complete weather protection.

Constructions: The FMC6-98 is a center fed design which eliminates the distortion of the radiation pattern and ensures a true omni-directional horizontal pattern. The special stub matching is used for smooth VSWR and constant 6dBi gain over the specified frequency band. The collinear antenna consist of large diameter brass radiating elements stacked vertically, fed in phase and enclosed in fiber glass tube. The mounting hardware is made of type 316 marine grade stainless steel and supplied with the antenna. The antenna is highly suitable for small power community broadcast application.
