Overview: LP-88-108 FM Band Log Periodic Dipole Antenna

The LP-88-108 is a high-gain, professional-grade Directional Log Periodic Dipole Antenna (LPDA) precision-engineered for the 88–108 MHz spectrum. Constructed from 6063T6 architectural anodized aluminum, this antenna is designed to provide powerful directional performance for FM broadcast transmission, strategic monitoring, and tactical jamming. Delivering a consistent 9 dBi gain across the entire band, the LP-88-108 avoids efficiency-reducing loading techniques, ensuring maximum signal integrity for critical mission profiles.

Hardened Construction & Tactical Design

Strategic materials for persistent performance in extreme environments. The LP-88-108 is built using 6063T6 ultra-corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with square-tube support booms for maximum structural rigidity. To enhance durability in high-wind theaters, extra spacers are integrated between the support booms. For safety, the antenna operates at DC ground, providing a low-resistance discharge path that protects connected RF hardware from lightning strikes and atmospheric noise. All fasteners—including screws, nuts, and bolts—are fabricated from Type 316 marine-grade stainless steel.

Operational Efficiency & Field Readiness

Modular architecture for rapid deployment and streamlined logistics. Despite its impressive 2.2-meter length, the LP-88-108 is designed for rapid field mobilization. It features foldable elements and a fast-deployment self-locking device, allowing elements to be securely attached along the boom in minutes. Elements are supplied in two segments to facilitate compact shipping and handling. The mounting arrangement is positioned at the rear end of the support boom, allowing for easy installation on standard 51 mm (2-inch) mount pipes in either vertical or horizontal polarization.

Detailed Technical Features

  • High-Gain Directional Mastery: Provides a constant 9 dBi gain, delivering a concentrated signal with a 60-degree horizontal beamwidth.
  • Wideband Transmission & Reception: Optimized for the entire 88–108 MHz band without the need for tuning or adjustments.
  • Superior Signal Isolation: Features a 16 dB Front-to-Back ratio, significantly reducing interference from the rear and focusing energy on the target area.
  • No Loading Loss: The array does not use loading techniques to reduce size, maintaining 100% efficiency and strong performance over the entire frequency range.
  • Versatile Polarization: Can be mounted for either Vertical or Horizontal polarization to match the polarization of the target network.
  • DC Grounding: Integrated protection against lightning surges and high immunity to static noise for clear signal intercept or transmission.
  • Rugged Support Booms: Uses 25.4 mm square aluminum tubing to prevent boom torque and maintain element alignment in high winds.
  • Fast Deployment Locking: Self-locking mechanism at the boom attachment points ensures elements remain secure during high-vibration operations.

Detailed Environmental Features (MIL-STD-810G Hardened)

The LP-88-108 is built to perform in the world's most demanding mission parameters:

  • Aerodynamic Integrity: Structurally rated to maintain mechanical safety in constant wind speeds up to 190 Km/Hr.
  • Thermal Survival: Certified for flawless operation in temperature extremes ranging from -30°C to +70°C.
  • Ingress & Moisture Protection: Fully functional in 0 to 95% Relative Humidity, suitable for tropical and high-salinity coastal theaters.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Anodized aluminum finish and marine-grade hardware ensure the antenna remains rust-free and operational for decades.

Key Advantages, Benefits & Applications

Key Advantages:

  • Focused Energy: The 9 dBi directional gain and 16 dB F/B ratio allow for precise targeting of signals, essential for long-range monitoring and signal denial.
  • Maintenance-Free: Rugged, factory-calibrated design eliminates the need for periodic field adjustments or tuning.
  • Tactical Portability: Foldable elements and segmenting allow for easier transport compared to fixed-element Yagi arrays.

Key Applications:

  • Tactical FM Broadcasting: Directional dissemination of information and information warfare (PSYOPS) in specific theater sectors.
  • SIGINT & Surveillance: High-sensitivity intercept and monitoring of signals within the 88–108 MHz band.
  • Electronic Warfare (EW): Serving as a high-gain source for directional jamming and area signal denial.
  • Spectrum Scanning: Ideal for identifying rogue emitters or unauthorized transmissions with high directional accuracy.

Design Features: The LP-88-108 log periodic dipole antenna use 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural anodized aluminum alloy and designed to provide wideband directional transmission/reception of radio signals from 88-108 MHz bands. The specially designed mounting arrangement results in fast installation. The extra spacers are used between the support booms to improve mechanical durability of antenna. This log periodic dipole antenna system is particular suitable for transmission, reception, monitoring, surveillance, scanning and jamming applications due to its broad band design feature. This high gain LPA provides strong performance over the entire frequency of 88-108 MHz as the LPDA does not use loading technique to reduce the overall size of array.

Constructions: The LP-88-108 assembled log periodic antennas outer-most dimensions are 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) long and 1.7 meters (5.6 feet) wide. The antenna has foldable elements, the longest of which is 0.85 meter. All elements are supplied in two segments for easy of shipping and handling. The elements are attached via a fast deployment self-locking device at points along the boom. The log periodic antenna operates at D.C. ground with low resistance discharge path for protection against lightning and immunity to noise. All the screws, nuts and bolts of log periodic dipole antenna are made of type 316 grade marine grade stainless steel.
