ADS-B-1090-6 High-Gain ADS-B Ground Station Antenna
The ADS-B-1090-6 is a professional-grade, high-performance Omni-directional Collinear Antenna specifically engineered for ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) ground stations operating at 1090 MHz. This antenna is designed as a phased array of vertically stacked dipoles, delivering a powerful 6+ dBi gain. Built to withstand the world’s most punishing environments, the ADS-B-1090-6 provides the high sensitivity and reliability required for precision aircraft tracking, air traffic management, and surveillance applications.
Tactical Construction & Signal Purity
Hardened materials for zero-failure performance in extreme theaters. The ADS-B-1090-6 is fabricated from high-class brass and 6063T6 ultra-corrosion-resistant architectural anodized aluminum. To ensure absolute signal purity, all internal junctions are fully welded, preventing the mechanical loosening and RF inter-modulation (IM) that often plague non-welded designs. The internal array is completely sealed within a high-tech ruggedized fiberglass radome, which is transparent to RF signals but impervious to corrosive gases, UV radiation, and heavy ice storms.
Operational Efficiency
Center-fed precision with superior pattern stability. Unlike standard end-fed antennas, the ADS-B-1090-6 utilizes a center-fed design. This architectural choice eliminates radiation pattern distortion, ensuring a true 360-degree horizontal omni-directional pattern.
- Selective Narrowband Performance: The antenna features a narrow +/- 10 MHz bandwidth, which acts as a natural filter to eliminate inter-modulation problems caused by adjacent strong signals in dense urban environments.
- Static Dissipation: The design is engineered to control friction-induced static created by high-velocity wind and dust, protecting sensitive receiver front-ends.
Detailed Technical Features
- ADS-B Precision: Specifically tuned to 1090 MHz for maximum efficiency in aviation tracking networks.
- High-Gain Collinear Array: Stacked brass elements fed in-phase deliver a concentrated 6+ dBi gain to maximize the ground station's reception radius.
- Radome-Shielded Radiator: 45 mm diameter fiberglass enclosure protects against "detuning" caused by rain, snow, or salt-fog.
- Zero Field Tuning: Factory-calibrated for an elite VSWR of better than 1.5:1 at the center frequency.
- Weather-Protected Termination: The N-Female connector is recessed at the bottom of the support pipe for total protection from environmental ingress.
- Military-Grade Hardware: Supplied with Type 316 marine-grade stainless steel mounting hardware for long-term rust immunity in shoreline conditions.
- Ground Independent: Requires no ground plane for operation, facilitating easy installation on various masts and structures.
Detailed Environmental Features
The ADS-B-1090-6 is built to maintain mission-critical performance across extreme parameters:
- Aerodynamic Integrity: Structurally rated to maintain mechanical safety in constant wind speeds up to 200 Km/Hr.
- Thermal Survival: Certified for flawless operation in temperature extremes ranging from -30°C to +70°C.
- Ingress & Moisture Protection: Fully functional in 0 to 95% Relative Humidity, making it ideal for tropical, coastal, and arctic installations.
- Compact Logistics: The 1-meter overall length and lightweight design allow for easy handling and rapid deployment.
Key Advantages, Benefits & Applications
Key Advantages:
- Enhanced Reception Sensitivity: The 6+ dBi gain significantly extends the line-of-sight tracking range for commercial and military aircraft.
- Maintenance-Free Longevity: Fully welded junctions and a rugged radome eliminate the need for periodic cleaning or field adjustments.
- Urban Interference Immunity: Narrow bandwidth prevents signal saturation from nearby cellular or industrial RF emitters.
Key Applications:
- ADS-B Ground Stations: Primary aperture for receiving 1090 MHz Mode-S and ADS-B aircraft data.
- Air Traffic Management (ATM): Reliable infrastructure for secondary surveillance radar and tracking systems.
- Airport Security & Surveillance: High-sensitivity monitoring of aircraft movements within a wide-area radius.
- Remote Tactical Airfields: Ruggedized construction and compact size make it ideal for rapidly deployed flight line operations.
DESIGN FEATURES: ADS-B-1090-6 Fiberglass Omni-directional Collinear Antenna is rugged all weather model uses high class brass and 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural anodized aluminum alloy and does not require any field tuning or adjustments. No ground plane is required to operate this antenna. The ADS-B-1090-6 antenna is an Omni-directional narrowband, higher performance, collinear dipole type phased array designed specifically for use as a ADS-B ground station antenna. All junctions are fully welded to prevent RF inter-modulation and antenna is completely protected within a high-tech ruggedized fiber glass radome to ensure survivability in the worst environments. The design of antenna allows controlling friction induced static, which could be created by wind and dust. The compact size of fiber glass collinear antenna allows easy handling and shipping.
CONSTRUCTIONS: The ADS-B-1090-6 antenna is a center fed design which eliminates the distortion of the radiation pattern and ensures a true omni-directional horizontal pattern. The special stub matching is used for smooth VSWR and constant gain over the specified frequency band. The bandwidth of the ADS-B antenna is fairly narrow, which can help to eliminate inter-modulation problems from adjacent strong signals in urban areas. The ADS-B collinear antenna consist of large diameter brass radiating elements stacked vertically, fed in phase and enclosed in fiber glass tube. The antenna termination is enclosed at bottom of the antenna for complete weather protection. ADS-B antenna is strong enough to withstand an ice storm, and will also do well in a shoreline environmental conditions. The marine grade type 316 stainless steel mounting hardware is supplied with the antenna.
