The AC-112-156 is a professional-grade, wideband omnidirectional dipole antenna engineered for the VHF Aviation Band (112–156 MHz). By utilizing a high-power coaxial dipole design enclosed in a rugged radome, it provides a stable communication link for ground-to-air, ground-to-ground, and maritime applications. This model is an ideal choice for Air Traffic Control (ATC) sites that require consistent coverage across the entire aeronautical and marine VHF spectrum.

Wideband Omnidirectional Performance

The AC-112-156 delivers a typical gain of 3 dBi over a massive 44 MHz bandwidth without requiring any field tuning or adjustments. Its primary performance advantage is its 80-degree vertical beam-width, which provides wide hemispherical coverage. This broad elevation reach ensures that the signal remains strong for aircraft at high altitudes as well as mobile units on the ground or sea. The use of large-diameter radiating elements ensures a smooth VSWR of better than 2:1 across the entire band, protecting radio transmitters from reflected power and maintaining high radiation efficiency.

Military-Grade Durability

Constructed to survive the most severe mission profiles, the antenna is housed in a high-strength ABS radome. This enclosure protects the internal 6063T6 architectural-grade aluminum elements from UV radiation, corrosive gases, and ice formation. To further harden the system against coastal salt spray and desert sandstorms, all metallic surfaces are treated with an epoxy-based powder coating and finished in PU-based Olive Green paint. Fully compliant with MIL-STD-810G, the antenna is rated to survive hurricane-force winds up to 200 Km/Hr.

Operational and Tactical Efficiency

Efficiency is a hallmark of the AC-112-156’s mechanical design. Despite its ruggedness, the antenna is supplied in a dismantled condition to reduce shipping volume and can be fully assembled in less than 2 minutes using a simple stainless steel stud system. For long-term logistical reliability, the N-Female termination is housed entirely inside the bottom of the mounting pipe, shielding the RF connection from moisture, rain, and mechanical strain, effectively eliminating the risk of connector rot.

Detailed Technical Features

  • Universal VHF Coverage: Covers the entire 112–156 MHz range, including VOR and standard ATC frequencies.
  • Hemispherical Signal Reach: 80° vertical beam-width ensures aircraft are never in a "null" zone.
  • Clean Pattern Stability: Coaxial dipole architecture ensures a true 360-degree horizontal pattern.
  • High Power Density: Supports continuous RF power up to 500 Watts.
  • Direct Matching: Integrated matching technique for stable VSWR across the entire band.

Detailed Mechanical Features

  • Premium Materials: 6063T6 Aluminum Alloy radiating elements, radials, and mounting pipes.
  • Elite Hardware: All brackets and fasteners are marine-grade stainless steel.
  • Protected Junction: Feed cable and connector lie inside the pipe for complete weather protection.
  • Weight Profile: Extremely manageable at 4 Kgs (Net); optimized for rapid deployment.
  • Dimensions: 1.3 meters overall length with a 110 mm radome diameter.
  • Mounting Interface: Compatible with mast diameters from 38 mm to 52 mm (1.5-2 inches).

Detailed Environmental Features

  • MIL-STD-810G Hardened: Specifically tested for High/Low Temperature, Shock, and Vibration.
  • Corrosive Protection: Epoxy powder coating protects against salt fog (Method 509.5) and acid rain.
  • Desert & Tropical Ready: Certified for Fungus Resistance (Method 508.6) and Sandstorm survivability.
  • Static Dissipation: Designed to bleed off static noise for a cleaner receive floor.

Key Advantages

  • Eliminates Multiple Antennas: Handles aeronautical, emergency, and maritime VHF bands in a single aperture.
  • Radome Armor: Protects sensitive elements from mechanical wear, bird strikes, and ice.
  • Rapid Field Assembly: Essential for "comms-on-the-pause" and tactical headquarters setup.

Primary Applications

  • Military & Civilian ATC: Reliable ground-to-air voice and data links for regional airfields.
  • Coastal & Naval Stations: Salt-resistant omnidirectional link for maritime coordination.
  • Tactical Command Posts: Wideband VHF communication for mobile headquarters and field units.
  • Ground-to-Ground Relay: Establishing VHF networks in hilly or urban terrain.

Design Features : AC-112-156 Omni-directional VHF aviation band antenna is rugged all weather model, enclosed in a ABS radome, uses 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural anodized aluminum alloy and does not require any field tuning or adjustments. The compact size of omni-directional VHF aviation band antenna allows easy handling, shipping and highly suitable for ATC sites without having the requirement of multiple antennas. The antenna features high suppression of skin current which provides the smooth VSWR and constant gain over the entire 112-156 MHz frequency band. The N-Female termination of antenna is fixed at the bottom of the mounting pipe for complete weather protection.

Constructions : The VHF aviation band antenna is consisting of large diameter radiating elements stacked vertically and enclosed in ABS radome. The special choke and spark gap technique is used for smooth VSWR and constant 2dBi. gain over the entire 112-156 MHz. frequency band. The UV resistant ABS enclosure has excellent transparency for RF signals and enough strength to withstand specified wind loads. The marine grade type 316 stainless steel mounting brackets are supplied with the antenna. Cylindrical enclosure is used for low wind loading and for minimal effect of ice formation on the antenna operation as well as providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
