| LPDS-225-400 | UHF Dual Stacked 14dBi Log Periodic | 225-400MHz | 14 dBi |
High-Gain Directional Performance
The LPDS-225-400 is engineered for "high-link-margin" missions, delivering a consistent 13 dBi gain across the entire 225–400 MHz military aviation spectrum. By utilizing a dual-stacked configuration, the system effectively doubles the effective radiated power (ERP) of a single unit, making it a strategic asset for deep-oceanic aircraft tracking and long-range ground-to-air links. The array is highly configurable: operators can choose between Vertical Polarized Horizontal Stacking (VPHS) to sharpen the horizontal beam or Horizontal Polarized Vertical Stacking (HPVS) to focus power toward the horizon. This beam-shaping capability, combined with a VSWR of better than 2:1, ensures that the system provides a stable, high-fidelity connection even in congested or high-interference electromagnetic environments.
Military-Grade Durability and Construction
Built to sustain operations in the world's most severe theaters, the LPDS-225-400 is constructed from 6063T6 architectural-grade anodized aluminum alloy. This material provides an elite strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring the 12 Kg array remains structurally sound during high-vibration events or transport. The antenna is finished with a matte olive green epoxy-based powder coating, offering a primary shield against UV radiation, acid rain, and salt-fog corrosion—essential for coastal ATC and naval deployments. Every fastener is manufactured from Type 316 marine-grade stainless steel, and the use of extra spacers between support booms prevents mechanical fatigue or element drooping. Fully compliant with MIL-STD-810G, this array is rated to survive hurricane-force winds up to 200 Km/Hr (125 mph).
Operational and Tactical Efficiency
The efficiency of the LPDS-225-400 is defined by its rapid-response design and "zero-maintenance" passive architecture. Despite the complexity of a dual-phased array, the system is optimized for the tactical edge; each log periodic unit can be assembled in under 5 minutes without specialized tools. For logistical efficiency, the elements are segmented and removable, allowing the entire system to fit into a compact, man-portable shipping length of less than 4 feet. Electrically, the antenna operates at D.C. ground, providing a low-resistance path that bleeds off static noise for a cleaner signal floor and offers integrated lightning protection. This combination of high power handling (800 Watts) and rapid-deploy mechanics makes it an exceptionally efficient tool for modern C4ISR and electronic warfare applications.

Detailed Technical Features
- Strategic Dual-Stacked Gain: Delivers a continuous typical gain of 13 dBi across the entire bandwidth, providing a significant link-margin boost for deep-range aircraft communication.
- Frequency-Independent Performance: As a true log periodic system, it maintains stable electrical characteristics from 225 MHz to 400 MHz without lossy loading techniques.
- Focused Radiation Control: The system allows for precise beam-shaping through stacking:
- Vertical Polarized Horizontal Stacking (VPHS): Narrows the horizontal beam to 30° while maintaining a wide vertical reach.
- Horizontal Polarized Vertical Stacking (HPVS): Narrows the vertical beam to 30° to concentrate power toward the horizon.
- High-Power Capacity: Engineered to handle 800 Watts of RF power, supporting high-intensity transmitters and jamming exciters.
- Low VSWR Architecture: Maintains a VSWR of better than 2:1 over the entire 175 MHz band, protecting high-value radio power amplifiers.
- D.C. Grounded Safety: Features a direct-ground design to bleed off static noise and provide a low-resistance path for lightning protection.
Detailed Mechanical Features
- Dual Array Composition: Consists of two identical LPDAs, a 2-way power combiner/splitter, and a specialized phasing harness.
- Premium Alloy Construction: Fabricated from 6063T6 architectural-grade anodized aluminum, ensuring high strength with a manageable total system weight of 12 Kgs.
- Reinforced Dual-Boom Design: Support booms use 25.4mm square tubing with extra spacers to eliminate element drooping and mechanical fatigue.
- Tactical Portability: Elements are segmented and removable; the longest element is only 0.33m, allowing the entire system to be transported in cases under 4 feet.
- Elite Hardware: Every screw and bolt is made of Type 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel.
- Wind Resilience: Aerodynamically optimized to survive extreme wind loads of up to 200 Km/Hr (125 mph).
Detailed Environmental Features
- MIL-STD-810G Compliance: Fully ruggedized for the world's most severe operational environments.
- Extreme Thermal Range: Operational from -30°C to +70°C and storage rated up to +80°C.
- Anti-Corrosive Shielding: Protected by an olive green epoxy powder coating that resists salt fog (Method 509.5), acid rain, and UV radiation.
- Global Theaters: Tested for Fungus Resistance (Method 508.6) and humidity, making it suitable for tropical jungle deployment.
Key Advantages
- Maximum Link Margin: The 13 dBi gain effectively doubles the ERP (Effective Radiated Power) compared to single-unit models, extending the operational range for ATC hubs.
- Configurable Beam-width: Operators can choose between VPHS or HPVS stacking to customize the "signal footprint" to match specific terrain or sectoral monitoring needs.
- Consolidated Logistics: Replaces multiple narrow-band directional antennas, reducing tower clutter and spare-part inventories.
Strategic Benefits
- Increased Oceanic Reach: Essential for ATC centers managing deep oceanic corridors where standard signal strength is insufficient.
- Rapid Deployment: Despite the dual-array complexity, each antenna can be assembled in under 5 minutes, facilitating quick setup for mobile command units.
- Interference Rejection: The system's high directivity and 18 dB Front-to-Back ratio ensure high-quality links even in congested electromagnetic environments.
Primary Applications
- Strategic Military ATC: Providing long-distance ground-to-air links at major military airfields and coastal hubs.
- Tactical Jamming & EW: Concentrating directional energy to disrupt enemy aeronautical communication and navigation links.
- Long-Range UHF Monitoring: High-gain directional capture for SIGINT and ELINT missions across the aviation spectrum.
- Remote Ground-to-Air Relay: Establishing a high-power wireless "bridge" to airborne assets in difficult-to-reach terrain.
Design Features: The LPDS-225-400 is a set of two similar log periodic dipole array which be stacked or bayed. The LPDS-225-400 high gain UHF aeronautical band log periodic dipole antenna use 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural anodized aluminum alloy and designed to provide wideband directional transmission/reception of radio signals from 225-400 MHz bands for military aeronautical ATC sites for ground-to-ground and ground-to-air communication without having the requirement of multiple antennas. The complete log periodic antenna is supplied with epoxy based powder coating finish to protect it further from severe environmental conditions. The extra spacers are used between the support booms to improve mechanical durability of log periodic antenna. The specially designed mounting arrangement results in fast installation. The LP antenna can be assembled in less than 5 minutes. This log periodic dipole antenna system is particular suitable for transmission, reception, monitoring, scanning and jamming applications due to its broad band design feature, and small size. This log periodic antenna provides strong performance over the entire 225-400 MHz UHF aviation band. Log periodic antenna does not use loading technique to reduce the overall size of array. The shipping length of antenna is less than 4 feet making it highly suitable for mobile and tactical applications. The antenna is designed as per 810G MIL-STD.
