Overview: GP-155-174 Broadband Omnidirectional Ground Plane Antenna

The GP-155-174 is a high-performance, military-grade Broadband Ground Plane Antenna precision-engineered for the 155–174 MHz VHF band. This rugged, all-weather model is specifically designed for mission-critical applications where high efficiency and signal purity are non-negotiable. Whether utilized for high-power jamming, strategic spectrum monitoring, or tactical base station communications, the GP-155-174 provides a resilient, single-antenna solution that eliminates the need for multiple narrowband arrays and field adjustments.

Tactical Engineering & Construction

Sealed-unit architecture for zero-maintenance operation in extreme theaters. The antenna's primary radiating element is a large-diameter aluminum rod, completely enclosed within a high-tech ruggedized fiberglass radome. This ensures the internal array is 100% protected from moisture, ice, and corrosive atmospheric gases. The use of 6063T6 ultra-corrosion-resistant architectural aluminum prevents the formation of "signal cells," effectively eliminating inter-modulation—a critical requirement for high-power electronic warfare. The base consists of a heavy-duty 100 mm x 100 mm "L-type" aluminum plate for versatile and secure mounting.

Operational Efficiency

True omni-directional dominance with superior "Null Fill" performance. The GP-155-174 delivers a stable 2 dBi gain and an elite VSWR of better than 1.5:1 across the entire band. It requires no field tuning, ensuring rapid deployment readiness for quick-reaction forces. Its exceptionally wide 78-degree vertical beamwidth is optimized for consistent signal saturation, effectively eliminating communication "dead zones" at close range or varying elevations. With a robust 500-Watt power handling capacity, it is a premier source for persistent convoy protection and broadband signal denial.

Detailed Technical Features

  • High-Band VHF Mastery: Precision coverage for the 155–174 MHz range, ideal for tactical military and public safety VHF communications.
  • Radome-Shielded Array: Radiating elements are housed in high-strength fiberglass for absolute protection against sand abrasion and salt-fog.
  • Elite Power Handling: Facilitates up to 500 Watts of continuous RF power for intense tactical broadcasting and jamming missions.
  • True Omni-Directional Pattern: Delivers a perfectly symmetrical 360-degree horizontal radiation pattern for total situational awareness.
  • Inter-Modulation (IM) Suppression: All-aluminum internal construction eliminates diode effects and unwanted harmonic interference.
  • Compact Logistics Design: Features four removable stainless steel ground radials, allowing for a 0.55-meter shipping length.
  • Marine-Grade Hardware: Every mounting fastener and all four radial elements are fabricated from Type 316 Stainless Steel.
  • Standard Termination: Features a professional N-Female connector for high-reliability, low-loss signal transfer.

Detailed Environmental Features (MIL-STD-810G Hardened)

The GP-155-174 is rigorously tested to survive the most punishing theater conditions:

  • Thermal Survival: Certified for High/Low Temperature extremes (Method 500.5/502.5, Procedures I & II).
  • Aerodynamic Stability: Rated to withstand constant wind speeds up to 200 Km/Hr.
  • Ingress & Humidity Defense: Fully functional in 95% relative humidity and resistant to high-velocity horizontal rain (Method 506.5).
  • Mechanical Resilience: Tested for High-Impact Shock (Procedure IV) and Tactical Vibration (Procedure I) for vehicle-mounted or tower installations.
  • Biological Defense: Treated for Fungus Resistance (Method 508.6) for long-term reliability in tropical environments.

Key Advantages, Benefits & Applications

Key Advantages:

  • Boresight Pattern Stability: Ruggedized radome ensures radiation characteristics remain constant even in iced-over or high-vibration environments.
  • Rapid Multi-Mission Deployment: Zero field tuning and removable components allow the system to be operational in minutes.
  • Superior Null Fill: The wide vertical beamwidth ensures clear communication for ground-level units and low-flying aerial assets alike.

Key Applications:

  • VVIP & Convoy Protection: Creating a persistent high-power jamming "bubble" to defeat VHF-controlled RCIED threats.
  • Tactical Spectrum Monitoring: High-sensitivity intercept and scanning across the high-band VHF spectrum.
  • Military & Emergency Base Stations: Ruggedized primary antenna for secure Command and Control (C2) links.
  • Maritime & Coastal Security: Marine-grade materials ensure a long service life in high-salinity maritime environments.

Design Features: GP-155-174 broadband Ground Plane Antenna is rugged all weather model, enclosed in fiberglass radome, uses 6063T6 ultra corrosion resistant architectural aluminum alloy and marine grade stainless steel ground plane elements (radial) and does not require any field tuning or adjustments. The broadband ground plane antenna when packed comes with ground radials removed from the antenna body for ease of packing and transportation. GP-155-174 broadband ground plane antenna offers true omni directional radiation pattern and wide vertical / elevation beamwidth providing excellent null fill for consistent signal coverage.

Constructions: The GP-155-174 broadband ground plane antenna is consisting of round diameter vertical radiating elements enclosed in fiberglass radome. The fiberglass enclosure has excellent transparency for RF signals and enough strength to withstand specified wind loads. The compact size of omni-directional broadband ground plane antenna allows easy handling, shipping and highly suitable for transmitting, receiving without having the requirement of multiple antennas. Cylindrical enclosure is used for low wind loading and for minimal effect of ice formation on the broadband GP antenna operation as well as providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The marine grade type 316 stainless steel mounting brackets are supplied with the antenna.
