The JCM5-810 is a versatile, High Gain Manpack Jammer Collinear Antenna designed to provide gapless protection across the 800–1000 MHz spectrum. This specialized aperture covers both GSM and CDMA cellular bands, making it an essential tool for dismounted Electronic Warfare (EW) operators who need to neutralize a wide variety of cellular triggers and tactical communication links with a single, portable mission-asset.

Design: Multi-Band Efficiency & Tactical Mobility

The JCM5-810 is engineered for operators who cannot afford to carry multiple antennas for different cellular standards.

  • Broadband 800–1000 MHz Coverage: Unlike narrow-band antennas, the JCM5-810 provides a unified solution for the entire 800-1000 MHz range. This ensures no vulnerabilities between cellular bands, protecting the operator from frequency-hopping threats.
  • Superior 4.5 dBi Gain: By utilizing high-quality brass radiating elements, the antenna delivers a significant range increase over standard 2 dBi whips. This results in a much larger "safety bubble" for foot patrols.
  • Optimized 40° Vertical Beam: The antenna compresses its signal into a 40-degree vertical beamwidth. This focuses the 50W of transmitter power toward the horizon, where threats are located, rather than wasting energy on the sky or the ground.
  • Direct N-Male Integration: The antenna mounts directly onto the manpack equipment. For high-vibration or high-impact missions, the JCM5-810-S version features an integrated spring base to protect the radio's RF port.

Construction: Hardened Portable Architecture

Built to withstand the rigors of combat maneuvers, the JCM5-810 is a "zero-tuning" tactical asset.

  • Lightweight Tactical Build: At just 400 grams, the antenna minimizes fatigue for the dismounted operator during long-duration missions.
  • Rugged ABS Radome: Internal elements are protected by a 32mm diameter, high-strength ABS radome. This housing is UV-resistant, provides 100% RF transparency, and prevents ice and sand from affecting the antenna’s performance.
  • MIL-Grade Resilience: Finished in Olive Green, the antenna is designed to be operational in extreme environments from -30°C to +70°C.

Technical Features

  • Gapless 800–1000 MHz Coverage: One antenna for all GSM and CDMA 800/900 bands.
  • 4.5 dBi Omni-Directional Gain: Significantly expands the jamming perimeter.
  • 50W RF Power Handling: Robust enough for continuous-duty portable EW operations.
  • Direct N-Male Mounting: Eliminates the need for lossy cables or fragile adapters.
  • Superior VSWR (2:1): Protects the portable transmitter from reflected power damage.
  • Ultra-Corrosion Resistant: Built with 6063T6 aluminum and high-quality brass.

Strategic EW & SIGINT Guide: JCM5-810 Situational Mastery

The JCM5-810 is the "Swiss Army Knife" of portable cellular denial. Because cellular triggers can jump between GSM and CDMA standards, a wideband high-gain antenna is a tactical necessity.

1. The Strategy of Focused Power

In manpack operations, battery life is the ultimate constraint. A standard 2 dBi antenna wastes power in an inefficient sphere. The JCM5-810’s 40-degree beam acts as a focused ring of interference. This ensures every watt of battery power is used to saturate the horizon, establishing a dominant Jamming-to-Signal (J/S) ratio.

2. Tactical Mobility: The Spring Base Advantage

For operators moving through urban doorways or thick brush, the JCM5-810-S (Spring Version) is highly recommended. The spring allows the 550mm radome to deflect 90 degrees and snap back, preventing the antenna from snapping the radio's RF connector.

3. High-Fidelity Signal Monitoring

By utilizing rigid brass elements and 6063T6 aluminum, the JCM5-810 eliminates Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM). This is vital for SIGINT; it ensures the antenna doesn't generate its own noise, allowing the operator to detect weak, distant cellular "handshakes" that would otherwise be lost in self-generated interference.

Strategic EW & SIGINT Guide: JCM5-810 Situational Mastery

The JCM5-810 is the "Swiss Army Knife" of portable cellular denial. Because modern RCIED threats can jump between GSM and CDMA standards, a wideband high-gain antenna is a tactical necessity for dismounted teams. This guide explains how the JCM5-810’s 4.5 dBi gain and 40-degree vertical beamwidth maximize the electronic "safety bubble" in high-threat environments.

1. Mastering the Combined GSM/CDMA "Denial Disc"

In manpack operations, battery endurance and transmitter power (50W) are your most critical constraints. A standard unity-gain antenna (2 dBi) radiates energy in a wide, inefficient sphere, wasting power on the sky and the ground directly beneath the operator.

  • The 4.5 dBi Advantage: The JCM5-810 compresses the signal into a focused 40-degree horizontal "disc." By narrowing the vertical aperture, every watt of battery power is concentrated toward the horizon.
  • Unified Protection: Because it covers 800–1000 MHz, a single antenna suppresses both 800 MHz CDMA and 900 MHz GSM triggers simultaneously, ensuring no "frequency gaps" that an adversary could exploit.

2. Tactical Mobility: The Spring Base Advantage

Modern foot patrols involve navigating dense urban environments, thick vegetation, and rapid vehicle ingress/egress.

  • Rigid vs. Flexible: The standard JCM5-810 provides a low-profile, rigid connection. However, for high-mobility patrols, the JCM5-810-S (Spring Version) is essential.
  • Mechanical Fuse: The spring base allows the 550mm radome to deflect up to 90 degrees when striking an obstacle (like a doorway or low branch) and snap back to vertical. This prevents the antenna from acting as a lever that could snap the N-connector on your expensive manpack transmitter.

3. High-Fidelity SIGINT & PIM Suppression

In Electronic Warfare, the antenna hardware itself can become a source of "phantom" interference if internal junctions are not perfectly bonded.

  • Brass Element Stability: By utilizing rigid, high-quality brass radiating elements rather than flexible wire, the JCM5-810 eliminates the "flicker" and impedance shifts caused by wind and movement.
  • Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM): The fully welded internal architecture eliminates PIM. This is vital for SIGINT operators; it ensures a clean RF environment, allowing the operator to detect weak, low-power cellular "handshakes" or distant control signals that would otherwise be lost in self-generated noise.

4. "Silent" Monitoring & Static Management

Sensitive SIGINT receivers are easily "blinded" by static electricity (P-Static) generated by wind friction across an antenna's surface or the operator's movement.

  • D.C. Grounding: The JCM5-810 is D.C. Grounded to bleed off static charges to the radio chassis. This results in an ultra-low noise floor, protecting the sensitive receiver front-end from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and ensuring maximum intercept sensitivity.

Tactical Deployment Checklist

  • Antenna Elevation: When mounted on a backpack jammer, ensure the top of the 550mm radome extends above the operator's head. If the antenna is "shadowed" by the operator's helmet, the gain will be blocked in that direction.
  • Connector Integrity: Check the N-Male connection periodically. At 1000 MHz, even a slightly loose connector can cause a spike in VSWR, leading to transmitter thermal shutdown.
  • Body Bonding: For maximum efficiency, ensure the manpack radio has a good electrical connection to the operator's frame. This allows the system to use the operator's bulk as a secondary ground plane, stabilizing the radiation pattern.
  • Cable Loss Awareness: If using an extension cable to move the antenna to a shoulder mount, use only high-grade, low-loss coax. At 1 GHz, cheap cables will absorb a significant portion of your 50W jamming power.
