The JCM5-950 is a professional-grade High Gain Manpack Jammer Collinear Antenna specifically engineered for the 925–960 MHz GSM band. Designed for dismounted operators and portable electronic warfare (EW) systems, this antenna delivers a potent 5 dBi gain in a compact, 500mm form factor. By utilizing high-quality brass radiating elements enclosed in a ruggedized ABS radome, the JCM5-950 provides a consistent, high-intensity electronic shield against GSM-based triggers and communication links.

Design: Compact Efficiency & GSM Precision

The JCM5-950 is optimized for operators who require a balance between extended range and physical maneuverability.

  • High-Efficiency 5 dBi Gain: Compared to standard unity-gain whips, the JCM5-950 offers a significant increase in power density. This creates a larger "protection bubble" around the dismounted operator, critical for neutralizing RCIED threats at a safe standoff distance.
  • Balanced 36° Vertical Beamwidth: The antenna compresses its radiation into a 36-degree vertical beam. This focuses the 50W of transmitter power toward the horizon, ensuring maximum signal saturation where threats are most likely to be located.
  • Direct Equipment Integration: Featuring an N-Male termination, the antenna mounts directly onto the portable transmitter. For high-mobility missions, the JCM5-950-S version (with integrated spring) is available to absorb mechanical impacts and protect the radio’s RF port.

Construction: Tactical Hardening & Mobility

Built for the rigors of field operations, the JCM5-950 is engineered to be a "zero-fail" tactical asset.

  • Lightweight Tactical Profile: At just 500mm (20 inches) long and weighing 400 grams, it is highly maneuverable in dense urban environments or thick vegetation, minimizing the physical load on the operator.
  • All-Weather ABS Radome: The radiating elements are protected by a 25mm diameter ABS radome. This enclosure is UV-resistant and provides 100% RF transparency while shielding internal brass components from ice, sand, and moisture.
  • MIL-Grade Resilience: Finished in tactical Olive Green, the antenna maintains a low visual profile while operating in extreme temperatures from -30°C to +70°C.

Technical Features

  • Targeted 925–960 MHz Coverage: Optimized for GSM band denial and spectrum monitoring.
  • 5 dBi Omni-Directional Gain: Significantly increases effective jamming radius over standard whips.
  • 50W RF Power Handling: Robust enough for continuous-duty portable EW operations.
  • Superior VSWR (1.5:1): Ensures maximum power transfer and protects sensitive portable electronics.
  • Direct N-Male Mounting: Eliminates the need for lossy cables or fragile adapters.
  • 6063T6 Aluminum & Brass Build: Combines ultra-corrosion resistance with high electrical conductivity.

Strategic EW & SIGINT Guide: JCM5-950 Manpack Mastery

The JCM5-950 is an essential tool for the modern Electronic Warfare operator. Because the 900 MHz band is used globally for cellular triggers, having a high-gain portable solution is a tactical necessity.

1. The Strategy of Focused Power

In portable operations, power is finite. A standard 2 dBi antenna wastes energy by radiating it into a broad sphere. The JCM5-950’s 36-degree beam acts as a focused ring of interference. This ensures every watt of battery power is used to saturate the horizon, establishing a dominant Jamming-to-Signal (J/S) ratio.

2. Tactical Mobility: The Spring Base Advantage

For operators moving through doorways, thick brush, or entering/exiting vehicles, the JCM5-950-S (Spring Version) is highly recommended. The spring allows the 500mm radome to deflect 90 degrees and snap back, preventing the antenna from acting as a lever that could snap the radio's RF connector.

3. Clean Signal Monitoring

By utilizing fully welded internal junctions and high-quality brass, the JCM5-950 eliminates Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM). This is vital for SIGINT; it ensures the antenna doesn't generate its own noise, allowing the operator to detect weak, distant GSM signals that would otherwise be lost in the "clutter" of a lower-quality antenna.

Strategic EW & SIGINT Guide: JCM5-950 Manpack Situational Mastery

The JCM5-950 is a precision tactical asset designed for the 925–960 MHz GSM spectrum. In dismounted Electronic Warfare (EW), the 900 MHz band is a high-priority target, as it remains the primary frequency for global cellular triggers and encrypted tactical voice links. While standard flexible whips often lose signal efficiency during movement, the JCM5-950’s 5 dBi gain and 36-degree vertical beamwidth provide the concentrated power density required to maintain a dominant electronic perimeter.

1. The Strategy of Focused Power: 36° Vertical Beam

In manpack operations, battery endurance and transmitter power (50W) are your most critical constraints. A standard unity-gain antenna radiates energy in a wide, inefficient sphere, wasting power on the sky and the ground directly beneath the operator.

  • The 5 dBi Advantage: The JCM5-950 compresses the signal into a focused 36-degree horizontal "disc." By narrowing the vertical aperture, every watt of battery power is concentrated toward the horizon.
  • Dominant J/S Ratio: This gain profile ensures a superior Jamming-to-Signal (J/S) ratio, effectively drowning out adversary triggers at a significantly greater standoff distance than a standard whip.

2. Tactical Mobility: Spring Base vs. Rigid Mount

Modern foot patrols involve navigating dense urban environments, thick vegetation, and rapid vehicle ingress/egress.

  • Direct N-Male Mounting: The standard JCM5-950 provides a rigid, low-profile connection. This is ideal for static monitoring or overwatch positions where the antenna must remain perfectly vertical to maintain the 36-degree beam's alignment with the horizon.
  • Spring Base Resilience (JCM5-950-S): For high-mobility patrols, the spring-loaded version is essential. It allows the 500mm radome to deflect up to 90 degrees when striking an obstacle (like a doorway or low branch) and snap back to vertical. This prevents the antenna from acting as a lever that could snap the N-connector on your expensive manpack transmitter.

3. Eliminating Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM)

In Electronic Warfare, the antenna hardware itself can become a source of "phantom" interference if internal junctions are not perfectly bonded.

  • High-Fidelity Brass Elements: By utilizing rigid, high-quality brass radiating elements rather than flexible wire, the JCM5-950 eliminates the "flicker" and impedance shifts caused by wind and movement.
  • SIGINT Precision: This internal stability is vital for SIGINT operators. It ensures a clean RF environment, allowing the operator to detect weak, low-power cellular "handshakes" or distant GSM control signals that would otherwise be buried in self-generated noise.

4. Environmental Stealth & Static Management

Tactical success depends on maintaining hardware integrity while remaining undetected in the field.

  • Olive Green Finish: The military-grade finish ensures the antenna integrates with the operator's tactical kit, minimizing visual signature during daylight operations.
  • D.C. Grounding: The JCM5-950 is D.C. Grounded to bleed off the static electricity (P-Static) generated by wind friction and movement. This protects the sensitive receiver front-end of the manpack system from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and ensures a quiet noise floor for signal interception.

Tactical Deployment Checklist

  • Antenna Elevation: When mounted on a backpack jammer, ensure the top of the 500mm radome extends above the operator's head. If the antenna is "shadowed" by the operator's helmet or body, the 5 dBi gain will be blocked in that direction, creating a vulnerability.
  • Connector Integrity: Check the N-Male connection periodically during patrols. Vibration can cause the antenna to loosen, which significantly degrades the 1.5:1 VSWR and reduces jamming efficiency.
  • Body Bonding: For maximum performance, ensure the manpack chassis has a clear electrical path to the operator's frame. This allows the system to use the operator's bulk as a secondary ground plane, stabilizing the 900 MHz radiation pattern.
  • Obstacle Awareness: At 500mm (20 inches), always be mindful of low-clearance urban infrastructure. While the ABS radome is rugged, repeated high-velocity impacts can eventually fatigue the mounting interface.
