Wind Profiler Radar Antenna

Wind Profiler Radar Antenna

High-Performance Wind Profiler Radar Yagi Antenna

The wind profiler radar yagi antenna is engineered to deliver unparalleled precision for meteorological and atmospheric observations. Specifically designed for integration into large phased arrays, these advanced 3-element antennas operate efficiently across VHF (50 MHz to 200 MHz) and UHF (400 MHz to 1000 MHz) bands. By creating a narrow, highly focused "pencil beam," they can detect weak atmospheric signals and turbulence from ground level up to altitudes of 15 to 20 kilometers. Whether you are conducting atmospheric research, tracking pollution within the planetary boundary layer, or enhancing aviation safety by detecting wind shear at airports, this antenna provides the reliable, real-time data your operations demand.

High-end models feature an IP66 rating and are designed with small surface areas to minimize wind resistance and tower loading. Wind profiler radar yagi antenna also complies with MIL-STD parameters. High quality epoxy-based electrostatic powder coating on the complete wind profiler radar yagi antenna provides extra protection against corrosion in saline weather present in coastal areas.

Superior Durability for Extreme and Coastal Environments

Reliability in harsh outdoor conditions is a core feature of the WPRY-205 wind profiler radar yagi antenna. The radiating elements, support booms, and mounting flanges are constructed from high-quality 6063T6 ultra-corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum alloys. To provide ultimate defense against saline-rich coastal weather, the entire antenna features a high-quality, epoxy-based electrostatic powder coating. Combined with an IP66 rating and compliance with MIL-STD parameters, this robust construction ensures continuous operation in the toughest climates. Additionally, all supplied mounting hardware is crafted from type 316 marine-grade stainless steel, preventing degradation and ensuring a secure installation on both vertical and horizontal members.

Optimized Design for Low Wind Resistance and Easy Installation

Designed with efficiency in mind, the wind profiler radar yagi antenna features a highly compact surface area that significantly minimizes wind resistance and conserves tower loading capacity. It arrives fully pre-assembled with permanently fixed radiating elements—including a reflector, dipole, and director—on the support boom. The antenna is factory-tuned for immediate operation, requiring absolutely no field tuning or adjustments. To further simplify installation and ensure a clean setup, a welded base plate acts as a convenient mounting flange.

Advanced Feed System for Seamless Array Integration

Professional profiling requires seamless signal transmission, which is why this antenna utilizes a specialized gamma match feed system instead of a standard folded dipole, ensuring the best possible impedance matching. The feeder cable runs securely through the support boom, and the antenna is supplied with a fixed N-Female termination near the mounting flange. This intelligent design eliminates the need for loose pigtails, making it an ideal, low-maintenance choice for building massive phased arrays utilizing hundreds of individual Yagi antennas.

Design and Features of Wind Profiler Radar Yagi Antenna:

  • Element Configuration: Standard designs utilize a 3-element structure consisting of one reflector, one driven element (dipole), and one director. Driven element uses gamma match dipole feed for best impedance matching.
  • Phased Array Integration: For professional profiling, hundreds of these individual Yagi antennas (49 to 619 elements) are combined into a massive array to create a narrow "pencil beam" for precise wind measurement.
  • Feed System: Specialized designs often use a gamma match feed rather than a standard folded dipole to eliminate loose pigtails and simplify impedance matching. Feeder cable run through the support boom.
  • Environmental Protection: High-end models feature an IP66 rating and are designed with small surface areas to minimize wind resistance and tower loading. Wind profiler radar yagi antenna also complies with MIL-STD parameters.

Materials of Wind Profiler Radar Yagi Antenna:

  • Radiating Elements & Booms: Constructed from high-quality 6063T6 aluminum alloys, which are anodised for ultra-corrosion resistance. N-Female RF connector is provided near the mounting flange.
  • Mounting Hardware: Typically made of type 316 marine-grade stainless steel to prevent degradation in harsh outdoor environments. Base plate is welded on the bottom of support boom which can be used a mounting flange.
  • Weather Insulation: High quality epoxy-based electrostatic powder coating on the complete wind profiler radar yagi antenna provides extra protection against corrosion in saline weather present in coastal areas.

Applications of Wind Profiler Radar Yagi Antenna:

  • Meteorological Observations: Wind profiler radar yagi antenna is suitable for measuring horizontal and vertical wind velocity and direction from ground level up to altitudes of 15–20 km.
  • Atmospheric Research: Wind profiler radar yagi antenna is capable of detecting weak clear-air signals and weak turbulence in various atmospheric layers.
  • Aviation Safety: Wind profiler radar yagi antenna providing real-time wind profile data at airports to detect wind shear and other hazardous conditions.
  • Pollution Monitoring: Wind profiler radar yagi antenna is also suitable for tracking air pollution movement within the planetary boundary layer.
